What supportive care means on this journey
Trying to grow your family can take a lot out of you. There are appointments to keep, medications to time, test results to wait for, and many feelings in between. For some people, it can be helpful to have a quiet place each week that is focused on how they feel day to day.
That is the role acupuncture plays at CA Acupuncture & Chiropractic Clinic in Allen. We offer it as supportive care. It does not cause pregnancy, and we do not claim it changes the outcome of IVF, IUI or any other fertility treatment. Your reproductive specialist or OB/GYN leads your medical care. Our goal is to help you feel more relaxed, rested and comfortable while you follow their plan.
For many people, the goal is simply to have time set aside to slow down and breathe. Supportive care is built around that kind of practical goal.
Some people come to us early, while they are just starting to think about pregnancy. Others come after months or years of trying, or while they are in the middle of a treatment cycle. Wherever you are, we meet you there and keep the focus on how you are feeling, both physically and emotionally.
- Care that works alongside your fertility specialist, not in place of them
- A focus on stress, sleep, comfort and overall wellness
- Plain-language explanations so you always know what we are doing and why
Areas we focus on together
Every person arrives with a different story, so we start by listening. From there, we talk about which parts of daily life feel hardest right now and how supportive care may fit in.
Common areas of focus include:
- Stress and tension: Many people carry worry in their neck, shoulders and jaw. Acupuncture sessions are designed to be calm and unhurried, which may help you feel more at ease.
- Sleep: Rest can be hard to come by during a stressful season. We talk about sleep habits and use sessions that aim to support relaxation.
- Physical comfort: Hormone medications, long hours at a desk or old injuries can leave you sore. Gentle care may help with general muscle and joint comfort.
- Overall wellness: Small, steady habits around movement, rest and routine can support how you feel each week.
Nutrition and everyday habits
Dr. Steiner combines acupuncture with practical nutrition and fitness guidance. For people preparing for pregnancy, that usually means simple, realistic conversations about eating regular balanced meals, staying hydrated, choosing activity you enjoy and building routines that are easy to keep.
We do not ask you to follow extreme diets or start supplements on your own. If you are taking prenatal vitamins or medications, or if your fertility clinic has given you specific instructions, those come first. We encourage you to check any nutrition or supplement change with your reproductive specialist or OB/GYN before you make it.
Fitness is part of the same conversation. Some people want to keep training, while others have been told to slow down during certain treatment phases. We help you think through gentle, appropriate movement, such as walking or light stretching, that fits within whatever limits your specialist has set.
Coordinating timing with your fertility specialist
If you are working with a reproductive endocrinologist or going through IVF or IUI, timing matters. Your treatment calendar may include medication phases, monitoring visits, egg retrieval, transfer or insemination dates. We plan supportive visits around that calendar, not the other way around.
We ask you to let your fertility team know you are receiving acupuncture, and to share any guidance they give about activity, positioning or timing. If your specialist would prefer you pause or adjust sessions during certain phases, we follow that direction. Good communication helps everyone keep your care safe and well organized.
- Bring your treatment calendar or key dates to your first visit
- Tell us about medications, procedures and any restrictions from your specialist
- Let us know right away if your plan or dates change
What to expect at your visit
Your first visit begins with a conversation about your health history, your current fertility care and what you hope to get from supportive sessions. We will explain how acupuncture works in plain terms and answer your questions before anything begins.
Acupuncture uses very thin, sterile, single-use needles placed at chosen points. Most people describe the feeling as mild, and many find the sessions restful. You can rest comfortably during the session, and we check in with you along the way. If anything feels uncomfortable, we adjust.
After your visit, we talk about a reasonable schedule that fits your life and your treatment calendar. There is no pressure to commit to a long plan. You stay in charge of your care.

- Severe or sudden pelvic or abdominal pain
- Fever, chills or signs of infection, especially after a procedure
- Sudden swelling, bloating, shortness of breath or rapid weight gain during fertility medications
- A positive pregnancy test with pain, dizziness or bleeding
